Laparoscopic Anterior resection for rectal cancer. No stoma
Laparoscopic surgery, commnly called as key hole surgery is performed by small incisions with instruements whilst inside of the abdomen looked at the screen through a camera. Most of the abdominal surgeries now a days can be performed laparoscopically, thanks to the advancing technology.
Mr Gupta has a particular interest in performing bowel resections (mainly for cancer, sometimes for benign problems) laparoscopically. It does prolong the operation- time, however has a direct advantage post-operatively in recovery process, as well as cosmetically. It also helps in preventing further adhesions (scar tissue) in the abdomen.
Mr Gupta performs operations like right hemicolectomy, left hemicolectomy, total colectomy, sigmoid colectomy, anterior resections and abdomino-perineal resections laparoscopically.
