"Since I retired several years ago, I have used the services of several leading consultants for various medical conditions and procedures. I have no hesitation in saying that the colorectal services that Mr Gupta provided for me were absolutely second to none and I would highly recommend his services to anyone in need of colorectal investigation. From diagnosis of my tumour, through to surgery and subsequently, the advice he gave me was invaluable as were the timely updates he provided to me, some by way of telephone calls to my home, thus allaying my fears and anxieties at what was a very trying time for me and my family. I am indebted to him for his professionalism and the fact that my cancer is now in remission and has been so for over a year now....." Mr CP
"After being diagnosed with Diverticulitis disease in 2014, I had a major set back in June 2015, where I was introduced to Mr Ash Gupta as my surgeon. He explained how big the operation was and that I was very likely to have a stoma. For someone of my age it felt life changing. After the operation, which was more complicated than expected, Mr Gupta explained he had carried out two procedures, including a small bowel resection, Sigmoid resection, and performed an anterior resection at the same time to avoid a Hartmann's procedure. My recovery went well and Mr Gupta was always enquiring of my progress. Less than a year later I was fit and better enough to have a closure of ileostomy. I decided he was the best man for the job. Yet again I was comfortable with what needed to be done. Everything went as expected and I am now living a normal life. Mr Gupta helped me through a hard time in my life. He is a superb surgeon who is pushing the boundaries in his field. He has a great bedside manner and his after care is excellent. Once again Thank you....." Mr CL
“Following a comprehensive Far North Arctic Medical I required an urgent corrective surgery for an Umbilical Hernia, Mr Gupta clearly and simply explained the required procedure operating promptly to resolve the issue. I found Mr Gupta and his team both professional and courteous and the procedure carried out to the highest standards. I cannot thank Mr Gupta enough for his efforts…..” Mr GB

"Recent Haemorrhoid Surgery - It’s now eight weeks since undergoing Haemorrhoid Surgery at Epsom General Hospital. As a result, of my HALO operation, I am compelled to provide some feedback. However, would just like to set my experience into context. I have suffered with Piles for the best part of 30 years. Whilst every bowel motion left me temporarily incapacitated, due to the pain of the prolapsed Piles, I deluded myself into believing that the condition was manageable, as for the most part, I was able to get the Piles to retract by sitting on a firm surface thereby, eliminating the pain. It was only after the Piles had retracted, which could take up to an hour, was I then able to start my day. However, there were intermittent episodes where the piles refused to retract. Such occasions resulted in severe discomfort and would necessitate taking time off work. Throughout the last 30 years both my family and GP have urged me to consider surgery. My reluctance to take positive action was partly due to my fear of hospitals and the degree of pain that could be expected from a Haemorrhoidectomy i.e. the conventional treatment which involves cutting out the piles. More recently, I became aware of a new surgical procedure for Haemorrhoids namely, HALO (Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation ), which involves cutting off the blood supply to the Piles thereby, causing them to shrink. This procedure is deemed far less invasive than the Haemorrhoidectomy and recovery time at lot quicker. February this year ( 2015 ) I experienced an episode where my Piles failed to retract and the ointment that had on previous occasions proved so effective did little to reduce the excruciating pain. This was an episode like no other. The pain was so severe that I was unable to sit, stand and could not sleep. It took me three weeks to recover. Needless to say, it was this very painful experience that galvanised me to take action. After consulting my GP, I was referred to Mr Gupta’s General Surgery Clinic at Epsom General Hospital. As a result of attending Mr Gupta’s Clinic it was mutually agreed that surgery was the only viable option and that I was a good candidate for the HALO procedure. To be offered the HALO operation came as a pleasant surprise as my research indicated that St Helier and Epsom General had only performed the procedure on a few previous occasions. More importantly, I was pleased to discover that Mr Gupta had successfully performed the HALO procedure on previous occasions prior to joining Epsom and St Helier – this provided much needed reassurance. It’s eight weeks since my HALO operation and I feel great. Two weeks post operation I was completely pain free and four weeks post operation my bowel movements reverted to what I consider normal i.e. one a day. Post operation pain was tolerable. Definitely, less acute than a pre-HALO bowel movement. Based on my experience I have no hesitation in recommending HALO as a potential solution. A huge thank you to Mr Gupta and his team and my gratitude to the EGH Swift Daycase Ward nursing staff whose care, dedication and affable demeanour eased my anxiety and made the day tolerable. I stupidly allowed Haemorrhoids to adversely influence my lifestyle. Thanks to HALO and Mr Gupta I have been unshackled......" Mr RH
